Alfred Fazio has 40 years experience in freight and passenger rail. Born in Brooklyn, Al’s favorite transit system is the New York City Subway. He has worked for Amtrak, New Jersey Transit’s RiverLINE, and the Twenty First Century Rail located in Northern New Jersey, and has a particular expertise in DBOM models. Al holds a Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering from Villanova University, a Master’s in Environmental Engineering from Drexel University, a Master’s in Applied Mechanics from the University of Pennsylvania, and is a registered Professional Engineer. He is a member of the American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association (AREMA) as well as the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA). He has also served as a member of the Engineering faculty at the U.S. Naval Academy and at Widener University.
Rob Troup is currently serving as Deputy General Manager at the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority and has in excess of 35 years experience in Rail Rapid Transit as well as Light Rail, and High Speed Rail. His experience includes operations as well as hands-on engineering and construction. Prior to his Atlanta experience, Rob was at WMATA where he was Deputy General Manager of Operations, and previously to that, Chief Engineer. Mr. Troup began his career at AMTRAK where he worked in the Signal Design Group and later as Manager of all signal construction on the Northeast Corridor. A key project completed during this tenure was the complete resignalization of the AMTRAK Highline to allow a major increase in train capacity to 26 TPH between Newark and New York. During his service with a Consulting Engineering firm Rob participated in the preliminary research and final design to allow Short Internal Temporal Separation for freight service on a LRT System.
